Marcus M. Spiegel (1829-1864).

Colonel Marcus M. Spiegel, the great great grandfather of Jean Soman was a German- Jewish immigrant who fought and died during the Civil War. He was a true patriot who gave his life to preserve the United States and free the slaves.

He was one of the highest ranking Jewish Officers in the Union Army
